Data Prefill for Smartsheet Forms

SmartSyncApp's Data Prefill feature loads existing cell values into form fields when a user looks up their row. Instead of seeing blank fields and guessing what the current data is, users see their existing information and can edit only what has changed.

Why Prefill Matters

Without prefill, users must re-enter all data from memory even if only one field needs updating. This wastes time, introduces errors, and frustrates users who feel they are doing unnecessary work. Prefill transforms the experience from manual data re-entry to a quick review and update workflow.

How It Works

When prefill is enabled, Smart Form reads the current cell values for the matched row and populates each editable form field with the corresponding value. Users see their existing data displayed in the form inputs. They can leave unchanged fields as-is and modify only the fields that need updating. On submit, SmartSyncApp writes only the changed values back to the sheet.

Example
