Troubleshooting: Solving Time Picker & Input Issues
The time picker is a specialized UI component. While it is designed for stability, small configuration or browser issues can occasionally arise.
Issue 1: Picker "Glitching" or Not Scrolling
If the time wheels feel laggy or unresponsive, it is almost always a Browser Memory issue. This occurs most often on older iPhone or Android models where a high number of background tabs are open.
- Solution: Close other background tabs and refresh the form.
- SME Tip: For older hardware, use the "Step Selector" (+/- buttons) instead of the "Wheel Selector" in your tool configuration, as it requires significantly less GPU rendering power.
Issue 2: Touch Targets are Misaligned
On some Android devices with custom "System Fonts" or "Extra Large Text" enabled, the text alignment inside the picker can look skewed.
- Solution: Check the device settings under `Display > Font Size`. Resetting this to "Default" usually fixes the layout. Our dev team consistently updates CSS to handle these overflows, but device-level overrides can still cause friction.
Issue 3: Picker Won't Open
If clicking the time field doesn't trigger the picker, check for Popup Blockers or "Read-Only" fields in your mapping.
- Solution: Ensure your Smartsheet column is not locked. In your tool dashboard, verify that the column is mapped to a "Writeable" input type and that the user hasn't accidentally set the field to "Read Only" in the layout customizer.
